.frl

A .frl is for companies, associations and initiatives with a connection to Friesland, a province in the north of the Netherlands with a language of its own: a contractor working the farmland, a boat rental on the lakes, a foundation running Frisian-language events. A .nl only says you are in the Netherlands; this extension says where you are from.

There are no registration conditions, so a business from elsewhere can hold one too. That only works when the connection is real; otherwise the recognition you are after is exactly what you lose.
