A .app tells people straight away that there is software behind it. Not a company page with a contact form, but something you open and use.

That helps when you want to keep the product separate from the business. The studio stays on its own domain; the thing they built gets a .app. Nobody has to work out which of the two they need.

You mostly see it on small software teams, on the landing page for a mobile app, and on internal tools that colleagues log into every morning.
